$500,000 Structure Fire in Kingscote - 7 August 2023

At approximately 6.00pm this evening CFS were alerted to a structure fire at the Seaview Motel in Kingscote on Kangaroo Island.

Six CFS trucks manned with 36 firefighters in addition to four support personnel have swiftly responded to the fire which started in the restaurant area of the motel.

Thankfully the restaurant was closed and unoccupied at the time and all motel guests have been evacuated with no reported injuries.

It is believed the efforts of CFS firefighters have seen the motel accommodation spared of any fire damage. While firefighters are still working to make the partially heritage listed structure safe and free from fire, the restaurant damage is estimated to reach $500,000 with the figure expecting to be confirmed upon containment.

SA Police are supporting CFS crews with traffic management in the area.

Crews are expected to remain on the scene into the late hours of the evening to ensure the area is made safe.
