Commercial structure fire in Tumby Bay - 5 April 2025
Fifty-five CFS firefighters were called to a commercial building fire in Tumby Bay, on the state’s Lower Eyre Peninsula, just before 3:00 pm.
CFS firefighters responded on 9 trucks and worked alongside the Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS), SA Police, and SA Ambulance Service to manage the blaze.
Thanks to the quick actions of crews and the early identification of hazards, the fire was contained before it could spread further to adjacent properties.
Crews also saved 150 square meters in the timber yard area attached to the rear of the property.
Hazardous Materials (HazMat) operators have conducted atmospheric monitoring and have managed the run-off of fire water at the scene.
The estimated damage is likely in excess of one million dollars, and Fire Investigators will attend tomorrow morning.
