Community Support and Recovery Hubs

This position statement and guidance outline the CFS’s role, key risks, and recommended considerations for communities proposing to establish Community Support Hubs or Community Recovery Hubs. It provides guidance to ensure that any community-led initiative aligns with established emergency management arrangements and does not compromise public safety.

Electric vehicles and charging stations

The presence of electric vehicles and the installation of electric vehicle charging stations within buildings present a number of risks and safety concerns with regards to firefighter intervention.

Mature tree position statement

We seek to maintain a balance between fire risk mitigation while maintaining environmental values. Mature trees located within 20m of a building, if maintained correctly, do not pose a significant fire risk to a building.

Private bushfire shelters - bunkers

The SA Country Fire Service does not endorse the usage of private bushfire shelters or bunkers that are not built to the Private Bushfire Shelter Performance Standards.

Regulation 34

This position statement clarifies the CFS's interpretation of Regulation 34 under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 2005 and Regulations 2021, specifically regarding the use of fire for domestic and cultural purposes during the declared Fire Danger Season and on days declared as a Total Fire Ban days.
