Hay Fire at Laura - October 26 at 3pm

Thursday, October 26 at 3pm:

A hay shed fire at Laura is expected to burn for several days.

The structure and large bales of hay will be completely destroyed with a damage bill of approximately $500,000. The cause is thought to be spontaneous combustion.

CFS crews will continue to be on site for the next 24 hours at least, especially given the forecast fire danger tomorrow.

As smoke will continue to be in the area for the next few days, CFS encourages people with any respiratory or cardiac conditions to close all doors and windows and stay indoors.
