Semi-trailer fire at Wirrulla - 22 November 2025

Four trucks carrying approximately 16 SACFS volunteer firefighters responded to Triple Zero at 9:30pm to attend a semi-trailer fire four kilometres south-east of Wirrulla on the Eyre Highway on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula.

Upon arrival, volunteers found a B-double truck on fire, including the A-trailer and freezer trailer. The truck’s driver was uninjured.

The Eyre Highway has been closed while SACFS continues to work on extinguishing the fire.

It is unknown when the road will be reopened. Visit traffic.sa.gov.au for more information on road closures.

An SACFS Command Vehicle and SA Police are on scene to provide support to the firefighters.

Damage to the prime mover, trailers and contents is estimated at $500,000.

A fire cause has not been determined.
