Structure fire at Coober Pedy - 30 January 2026

Around 7am, CFS volunteer firefighters on 3 trucks responded to a house fire at Coober Pedy in the state's Far North.

On arrival, crews found a single house heavily involved in fire.

Thankfully, firefighters in breathing apparatus were able to contain the fire to the house and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring homes.

Unfortunately, the house was completely destroyed with damages estimated in excess of $200,000.

Crews will remain on scene this morning monitoring for hotspots and ensuring any smouldering areas are extinguished.

SA Ambulance and an ambulance from a local mine site provided support to crews.

The cause is undetermined at this stage and Fire Investigators have been notified.
