Structure fire at Grennock - 26 December 2023

CFS crews were called to a structure fire at a property in Grennock on the north-west ridge of the Barossa Valley at around 2am this morning.

Five CFS crews, with approximately twenty volunteer firefighters are currently on scene, supported by SA Police and SA Ambulance. SA Power Networks are enroute to isolate power.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find the back half of the property engulfed by fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and successfully contained the fire from spreading further through the property. CFS crews are currently on scene and are likely to remain for the next couple of hours using a thermal imaging camera to identify hotspots and mop up the area.

Two occupants have been evacuated from the property, with one member being treated by SA Ambulance for minor burns to their legs and feet. The occupants were alerted to the fire by a smoke detector within the property and highlights the importance of working fire alarms within the home.

No cause has yet been identified and Fire Investigators will be attending the scene tomorrow morning. Losses have been estimated at $250,000.
