Structure fire at Tailem Bend - 6 January 2026

Around 7.45pm, around 20 CFS volunteer firefighters on 5 trucks were called to a structure fire at Tailem Bend in the Murraylands.

On arrival, crews found two small sheds containing solar panels, lead acid batteries, an inverter, and generator involved in fire.

A specialist hazardous materials (hazmat) brigade was called to provide an assessment and support including atmospheric monitoring.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus contained the fire to the sheds and were able to extinguish the battery fires with support from hazmat crews.

The sheds were destroyed with damages estimated around $50,000.

SA Police and SA Ambulance were on scene to support crews and Fire Investigators will attend.
