Structure fire in Birdwood - 21 April 2025

CFS crews were called to a structure fire in a shed on Church Street, Birdwood at about 5:20pm this afternoon.

Five CFS trucks and one bulk water carrier responded to the incident with crews arriving to find the 15 X 5m structure completely involved in fire.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were unable to enter the structure due to the roof collapsing, so they worked defensively to extinguish the fire.

CFS crews are being supported by SA Police and SA Ambulance Service.

Crews will remain on scene for several hours to extinguish the fire, put out hot spots and ensure the area is safe.

A male occupant is being treated by SA Ambulance Service for burns.

Total losses are likely to be in excess of $100,000 and Fire Investigators are attending the scene to determine the cause.
