Truck fire at Manna Hill - 27 November 2025

A Triple Zero call at 11pm last night alerted the CFS to a B-double truck carrying lead acid batteries, on fire in a parking bay area within the township of Manna Hill, in the State’s Northeast Pastoral district.

Approximately 22 firefighters on 8 trucks and support vehicles, along with SA Police and SA Ambulance, attended the fire overnight. Although the truck has been destroyed, firefighters are still on scene extinguishing the reignition of the lead-acid batteries, under the guidance of CFS technical hazardous material specialists.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using foam to suppress and extinguish the fire, with atmospheric conditions being monitored and due safety consideration given to the challenging nature of the burning material. 

Losses have been estimated at $450,000.

Crews will remain on site until the area can be deemed safe. Traffic diversions have been put in place and SA Ambulance have provided crew welfare. No injuries have been reported.
