Truck Fire on Lincoln Highway - 28 April 2025

Four CFS crews with approximately 17 firefighters are working to extinguish a truck fire which has caught alight on the Lincoln Highway between Cowell and Whyalla. 

The driver thankfully left the vehicle safely before the fire fully engulfed the cab of the truck. Firefighters have contained the fire to the cab, saving the connecting trailer carrying two cars. Crews are using specialist equipment which aerates foam helping to extinguish the fire which keeps relighting due to heat. 

SA Police are on scene supporting with traffic control. All lanes of the highway are currently open but anyone driving in the area is encouraged to drive to conditions and stay alert for emergency service personnel working in the area.
