Meningie structure fire - 15 May 2026

A joint response from the CFS on four trucks and MFS on two trucks saw approximately 30 firefighters respond to a structure fire at Meningie, in the Coorong region south-east of Adelaide just after 9:30 am this morning.

A structure fire well involved in flames was impacting two businesses within a shopping complex and an adjoining residential property to the rear of the complex. Upon arrival, firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and prevent any further spread of fire to closely surrounding structures. Unfortunately, the three structures were a total loss, with damages estimated at over one million dollars.

SA Police and SA ambulance have supported crews on site, with the occupants of the businesses and surrounding buildings self-evacuating prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries have been reported.

Crews will remain on site for some time to ensure total extinguishment and make the area safe. Fire Investigators will attend to determine cause.

The CFS would like to share appreciation for the support of all first response crews, noting the significant distance travelled to respond to the incident.
