House fire in Aldgate - 22 May 2024
CFS crews were called to a two-storey house fire on Mount Barker Road at Aldgate in the Adelaide Hills at 7:00pm on Wednesday 22 May.
50 CFS firefighters on 15 trucks with two bulk water carriers attended the scene, supported by SA Police.
Firefighters worked defensively to contain the fire, which had quickly spread from the upper level to the whole house.
Thanks to the swift response and efforts of multiple crews, the fire was contained to the house, preventing further spread to neighbouring properties.
Thankfully the occupants were not home at the time.
Firefighters remained on scene for nearly three hours and will continue to work into the late hours of the evening to extinguish hot spots.
Losses are estimated at $850,000, and the house has been destroyed.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and Fire Cause Investigators have been called to the scene.
