Netherton Road fire - 4 January 2024

At about 8:10pm, CFS crews were alerted to a fire burning in a paddock near Netherton Road.
 
Local farmers with Farm Firefighting Units (FFUs) and 10 CFS crew members worked well together to quickly bring the fire under control, but not before it destroyed 6 hectares of a barley crop and a header.
 
Fire cause investigators have estimated a damage bill of $60,000 to the farming equipment.
 
It's not yet known the loss of income from the crops or cause of the fire.
