Structure fire at Crafers - 18 October 2024

At just after 6:00 am, 14 CFS firefighters on four trucks responded to a house fire in Crafers, located in SA’s Adelaide Hills, with support from SA Police and SA Ambulance Service.

Upon arrival, they found the first duplex fully involved due to the fast-moving fire. However, crews successfully saved the second duplex with minimal damage by using defensive tactics to prevent further spread.

Thanks to their offensive tactics, damage was limited to an estimated $500,000—much less than what could have occurred without their prompt actions.

Fortunately, all occupants were able to evacuate, and SA Ambulance Paramedics transported them to the hospital.

Our volunteer firefighters are expected to remain on site for approximately 2 hours to monitor for hot spots and extinguish any smouldering areas.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and Fire Investigators will attend later today.
