Structure fire at Williamstown - 30 December 2023
At approximately 3.20 am this morning, CFS crews were called to a house fire, with the house fully engulfed by fire, on Queen Street, Williamstown.
The home's occupants, a family of 4, have safely evacuated and are being treated on the scene for shock.
Approximately 60 firefighters on 12 fire trucks and with 2 bulk water carriers have attended the scene. Crews are using defensive firefighting techniques to stop the fire from spreading and will remain on scene for some time.
The CFS is being supported by the Metropolitan Fire Service, SA Police and Ambulance Services, as well as SA Power Networks.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined. Fire Investigators will attend the property later today to further investigate the cause.
Crews found and were able to save the family pet turtle, which has now been reunited with the family.
The home is fully destroyed, with financial losses currently estimated at $1.3 million.
