Tractor fire in Comaum - 10 July 2024
At around 8:00 pm, 15 CFS firefighters on 3 trucks attended a tractor fire in Comaum, 330 km south-east of Adelaide.
The fire started after the owner noticed an issue with their tractor’s Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) during the burn-off. A DPF is installed in the exhaust system of diesel engines to trap and remove soot, or other harmful particles being released into the atmosphere.
Despite the owner’s quick efforts to use an extinguisher, the tractor was destroyed resulting in an estimated $100,000 in damages. However, CFS firefighters successfully saved a $130,000 pruning unit.
