$60,000 truck fire on Eyre Highway near Penong
At 4:40 this morning, CFS crews from Ceduna and Penong were called to a B triple truck fire which was carrying steel and roofing material on the Eyre Highway near Bus Route Road.
When crews arrived, they managed to quickly contain the fire to the rear trailer and stop it from spreading to the middle trailer.
Quick thinking from the truck driver, who pulled over when he spotted the fire and disconnected the front trailer and prime mover.
Crews remained on scene to ensure the area was safe and there were no traffic disruptions.
The damage bill for the trailer is estimated to be approximately $60,000. The cost of the damaged cargo is unknown.
