Fire Causes $2 Million Damage to Research Centre Near Naracoorte - 5 November 2022

At 12h24AM on Saturday morning, 5 November 2022, SACFS crews were altered to a structure fire at the Struan Research Centre, 16 kilometres south of Naracoorte, South Australia.

Approximately 30 SACFS firefighters responded in 7 fire trucks and 2 specialised HazMat response vehicles.

Fire crews found the research centre and laboratories engulfed in flames upon arrival.

Unfortunately, the fire caused the ceiling of the structure to collapse and ultimately caused in excess of $2 million damage to the research centre.

The SACFS crews ensured that the historic Struan House was totally unaffected by the fire at the nearby research centre.

The cause of the fire is unknown and fire cause investigators will attend the scene on Saturday morning.

The SACFS crews were assisted by MFS, SAPOL, SAAS, and PIRSA.
