Home Destroyed at Swan Reach

Just before 830pm this evening SA Country Fire Service Firefighters were responded to reports of a structure fire on Gameau Road Swan Reach north east of Adelaide on the Murray River.

Called in by the owner, on arrival the initial crews found the fibro home fully ablaze and quickly responded more appliances.

More than 30 firefighters from six appliances and one bulk water carrier responded to the fire and undertook defensive firefighting techniques to contain the fire within 30 minutes. Unfortunately despite best efforts of crews the home has been left fully destroyed.

Total dollar damage estimates have been set at $150 000, Fire Cause Investigators from SA Metropolitan Fire Service and SA Police in Adelaide will be attending the scene tonight. A further update on cause will be provided once the cause has been determined.

SA Ambulance also attended. No injuries were reported.
