Mundulla house fire - November 8

Wednesday 8 November 2017 at 5.04am:

Just after 330am this morning SA Country Fire Service Firefighters were responded to reports of a Structure fire at Mundulla near Bordertown in the states Upper South East.

On arrival at the Nalang Road property, firefighters found the home fully ablaze and quickly got to work undertaking defensive firefighting techniques to control the fire within 45 minutes.

Efforts by firefighters were made difficult due to the brick frontage home also containing asbestos requiring firefighters to wear breathing apparatus.

One occupant was home at the time the fire started and required treatment by SA Ambulance for smoke inhalation.

In total 12 firefighters from two appliances and a command vehicle attended and will remain on scene for some time ensuring the fire is fully extinguished.

At this stage the cause of the fire is undetermined with Fire Cause Investigators from Adelaide requested and will arrive on scene mid-morning.

The early dollar damage estimate has been set at $180 000.

Local SA Police and SA Power Networks were also on scene.
