Shed fire at Wilmington - 2 November 2026
This afternoon, at around midday, CFS firefighters were called to a structure fire at Wilmington, north-east of Port Pirie.
On arrival, 15 firefighters on 3 trucks and 2 bulk water carriers found a 20m by 20m shed containing historical artefacts fully involved in fire.
Due to the severity of the fire, crews employed defensive firefighting tactics to extinguish the fire.
Thanks to their efforts, firefighters contained the fire to the shed and prevented it from impacting a nearby truck and shipping container.
Unfortunately, the shed and its contents were a complete loss with damages estimated at $150,000.
Crews remained on scene this afternoon to monitor for hotspots and ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious, however Fire Investigators have been notified. SA Police and SA Ambulance also provided support on scene.
