Shed Fire at Wye - 27th December 2022
CFS have been called to a fire burning on a property on Tillers Road in Wye, in the State’s Southeast.
Eight CFS trucks supported by Green Triangle Forestry have attended the incident to find a 300 x 100 metre shed fire burning an estimated 1000 tonne of woodchip, feed stock and hay with an approximate value of $1,000,000 potentially lost.
No nearby assets are under threat and there were no occupants in the shed.
CFS crews from Mount Gambier and Kingsley Groups are on scene fighting the fire currently but it is estimated that the fire will take 2-3 days to burn out.
There is a considerable amount of smoke blowing out towards the sea but residents nearby are advised to consider the potential for wind changes to blow that smoke towards nearby properties.
