Structure Fire at Blackwood - 17 February 2023

 

CFS were called to attend a structure fire at Penno Parade, Blackwood in the Eastern Foothills of Adelaide at 10.20am.

 

Six CFS trucks and 25 crew from local brigades attended the scene and found the residential home fully involved upon arrival.

 

The damage is estimated at $350,000 and the home is unfortunately believed to be a total loss.

 

CFS crews were able to use defensive firefighting to protect nearby assets and saved neighbouring shops and homes which were threatened.

 

Fortunately, the home was unoccupied at the time of the incident and there are no reported injuries.

 

There is a large amount of smoke in the local area close by to the Belair Hotel and locals are still advised that while the fire has been controlled, to stay aware of their proximity to the smoke affected areas and minimise exposure.

 

Roads closured remain in place on Penno Parade and Main Road in Blackwood while crews remain on site to mop up the fireground and make the area safe for commuters.
