Structure fire - Marcollat - 3 September 2026
This afternoon, at around 1pm, approximately 30 CFS firefighters on 6 trucks responded to a structure fire at Marcollat in the state's Limestone Coast region.
A passerby called Triple Zero (000) after noticing smoke coming from the roof of a house.
Unfortunately, when crews arrived, the house was fully involved in fire and was a complete loss.
Crews in breathing apparatus worked defensively to extinguish the fire with the support of 2 bulk water carriers.
Due to the presence of asbestos, a specialist hazardous materials brigade from Naracoorte was also called to the scene to provide support with atmospheric monitoring and decontamination.
Crews will remain on scene this afternoon to monitor for hotspots and ensure any smouldering areas are extinguished.
Damages are estimated at $500,000. No occupants were home at the time and thankfully no injuries have been reported.
SA Ambulance and SA Police provided support on scene and Fire Investigators will attend.
