Structure fire Wild Dog Valley - 25 December 2023

CFS crews were called to a structure fire at the CFS Regional Training Centre at Wild Dog Valley, north of Naracoorte in the state’s south-east at approximately 1:30pm.

Four CFS crews and one bulk water carrier, with a total of approximately 17 CFS volunteers attended the fire and were supported by SA Police and SA Ambulance. Firefighters arrived on scene to find the structure used as a training shed for firefighting breathing apparatus, or BA, engulfed by fire.

The fire was extinguished using internal attack methods. The structure and contents have been completely destroyed, however the nearby shed and transportable building were saved by the efficient work of firefighters on scene.

CFS crews have fully extinguished the fire but crews will remain into the afternoon to mop up and make the area safe.

No cause has yet been identified and Fire Investigators will be attending the scene tomorrow morning. Losses are estimated at upwards of $500,000.
