Vehicle fire at Cummins - 27 May 2026
Around 7.30am, CFS firefighters responded to reports of a vehicle fire on the Tod Highway at Cummins on the Eyre Peninsula.
Crews on 2 trucks arrived to find a dolly attached to a road train on fire.
Thankfully, the driver was able to disconnect the dolly and prevent the fire from spreading further throughout the truck.
Unfortunately, the dolly was completely destroyed with damages estimated around $60,000.
The fire was likely caused by a mechanical fault.
Firefighters also used thermal imaging cameras to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
SA Police provided support on scene.
