Waikerie truck fire - 11 January 2024
At 5:50am, the CFS responded to a B-Double truck fire carrying frozen chickens on the Sturt Highway at Lowbank, near Waikerie.
Five CFS trucks from the Mid Murray and Riverland arrived to find the truck driver had already uncoupled and saved the front trailer and prime mover.
However, despite quick efforts by our crews to put out the fire, the rear trailer was destroyed.
Losses are estimated at $150,000 and SA Police is now on scene investigating the blaze and redirecting traffic.
